Autumn Scents: Four Eaux de Cologne by 4711

In autumn, it is not only the light that changes. We perceive fragrances differently, too: the air is cooler, the days are shorter, and we look for something that offers warmth and clarity at the same time.

We have chosen four Eaux de Cologne by 4711 that suit the season well: a classic with a long history, a spicy composition, a gentle one and a floral scent for the evenings. Plus a look at the bottles, because at 4711 design has always been part of the fragrance.

Echt Kölnisch Wasser: the classic from Glockengasse

According to tradition, the recipe dates back to 1792. What is documented is that the Cologne merchant Wilhelm Mülhens was selling Kölnisch Wasser on Glockengasse from 1799. The number 4711 refers to the house number the building received during the French occupation, and later became the name of the brand.

The scent is fresh, citrusy and slightly spicy, with bergamot, lemon and orange in the top notes. In autumn, it becomes a small ritual: a few drops on the wrists in the morning, a moment of freshness on a grey day.

Lime & Nutmeg: freshness with warmth

For the Acqua Colonia line, perfumer Geza Schön combined two notes that complement each other: the invigorating, sweet-and-sour lime and the warm, spicy nutmeg. It is precisely this contrast that makes the fragrance a companion for the transition from late summer to autumn.

White Peach & Coriander: for quiet days

White peach brings a soft, fruity freshness, coriander a green, slightly spicy depth. The composition feels balancing and suits days when you want to take things slowly: a book, a cup of tea, a blanket on the sofa.

Jasmine: a fragrance for the evenings

In the Floral Collection, the classic Eau de Cologne tradition meets floral notes. Jasmine is warm and floral, ideal for the earlier autumn evenings, a dinner with friends or a night at a concert.

Design: bottles that stay

With 4711, the bottles are worth a closer look. Echt Kölnisch Wasser still comes in its signature Molanus bottle with a turquoise and gold label and the number 4711. The Acqua Colonia bottles are made of faceted glass, with a gold cap and a label in the colour of the scent. On a dresser or in the bathroom, they become small objects in their own right.
